At Swift Van Hire, our aim is to make the process of hiring as easy as it can be - no matter what your needs, you'll be looked after every step of the way. We've put together a simple guide to ensure your peace of mind when hiring a vehicle.

Before you hire

Get in touch via phone or email to check availability and make a reservation. One of our friendly staff will be on hand to answer any questions.

Choose a vehicle

If you haven't already, take a look through what vehicles we have in stock. If you're not sure which to choose, don't fret, the Swift Van Hire team will find the best match for your circumstances.

Secure your booking

To secure the vehicle you wish to hire, full payment is required, payable via credit or debit card when booking on the phone.

When you collect

Sort out the essentials

The person hiring will need to bring their photo card driving licence (the paper part is no longer required) and a DVLA licence check code. You might want to bring along proof of address and your national insurance number - this is so we can get a check code, if you don't already have one.

When collecting, you just need to pay the remaining balance of hire. This is the total cost of hire minus the booking deposit you have paid.

Get to know the vehicle

The team will give the vehicle a quick once-over to make sure everything's good to go. You will then be shown the operation of the vehicle to ensure you are happy with everything before you drive away.

Off you go!

Go about your business and do what you need to do. Be sure to stay safe and operate the vehicle as we showed you.

Our opening hours and contact details, along with information for recovery will be on board - just in case you need them.

Drop it back off

Make sure you're dropping the vehicle off when we're in! It might be a little embarrassing if you're sitting around for hours waiting!

Be nice, and make sure you return the vehicle in the same condition it left in, otherwise you may be charged extra. When the team are happy everything's as normal, you can be on your way and go about your normal business.

The small print - here goes...

All booking deposits paid are non-refundable if you choose to cancel within 5 days of the start of the booking.

No smoking in any of the vehicles at any time.

All drivers must have held a full UK driving licence for two years or more.

The minimum age for hire is 23 - maximum age is 75.

On collection of any vehicle, we require you to bring your photo card driving licence, national insurance number and one other form of identification showing your current residential address, e.g. bank statement, utility bill, building society letter etc. It must be dated within the last 3 months.

Price includes taxes, breakdown cover, unlimited mileage and insurance.

Fuel cost is not covered in the hire fee. You collect the vehicle with a full tank of fuel and must return it with a full tank. Use white diesel only (petrol when stated). It is your responsibility to cover your mileage and return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as at collection, or you will be charged for the fuel used.

Damage excess is £1000 (this may increase for under 25's). Please ask about our option to lower the liability, which is subject to current insurance policy conditions.

Penalties and charges will be incurred for late return of all vehicles. These will be deducted from the credit / debit card you used for payment. In some cases, we may charge a cleaning fee if we deem it to be necessary.

You are welcome to use the secure parking facilities on site. However all vehicles parked at Swift Van Hire in Tamworth are parked at the owners' risk. We will not be held responsible for the safety of your vehicle, or the damage or loss of any belongings.
